Welcome to speedskaterz.com, and thanks for checking out the online home of Speed Skaterz inc. (we used to be part of the Eltham Roller Skating Club) and wanting to find out more about us!

So, who are we?

We were kind of born out of Roller City Eltham (now SKATERZ), which had its beginnings in Eltham in 1981, turning one of Susan Street's warehouses into one of Australia's most well-appointed, comfortable, and family-oriented skating centres.

Our 'membership' was the logical progression of skaters through the number of learn-to-skate programs offered by Roller City Eltham.  Today, 26 years later, the range of classes offered at Skaterz is wider and better than ever, and many of those classes are now taught by long-standing members of the Club who share their experience and enthusiasm with a new group of first-time skaters every day.

The Club now has a long history that's seen a lot of great skaters come up through our ranks, and go on to great things.  Just our current Club line-up includes medallists at State, National and even World Championship level, as well as skaters that have turned professional as part of the World Inline Cup that began in 2002.  That's without mentioning countless others who did great things in their sport, and started right here at Eltham.  In speed skating, Australia has some of the best athletes in the World, and a number of Australia's World Team are Eltham's very own Speed Skaterz Inc. members!

As a sport... Speed Skaterz Inc. is a registered member of Skate Australia - the national body, recognised and endorsed by the Australian Sports Commission.  There are regular Grand Prix or League meetings around Victoria, as well as special meets like weekends, 3-days, and State & National Championship events - where skaters from all over Australia come together in a great social and competitive atmosphere.

Above all, we're all about people.  Families & individuals aged from 6 to 65 who get together to socialise & skate with friends, get in shape, stay fit, perfect skills, compete with others, and share a love of a sport (and a state-of-mind!) that extends the human body with wheels and lets you glide, cruise, sail, roll, spin and fly!
